Patterns with squares

 

A square can easily be made out of any “A” size rectangle

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Create a family “A” size rectangles by folding and cutting in half.

 

Then create a family of squares.

 

 

Use two colours and create two families.

 

Then nest the squares of different colours inside each other. 

 

 

When working with a class it is a good idea to get pairs of children to work with different colours, to produce a family each and then exchange squares so each has a complementary series.
