Folding the (almost regular) Pentagon

Start with an “A” rectangle.

Fold up corner to opposite corner.

Crease flat

Fold the irregular pentagon in half

Crease and open

Now fold in each of the sides so they lie on the crease line

The pentagon you have made is almost regular. Check to see if the sides and angles are equal by folding. You will find that they are very close to being equal. The Pentagon you have made is perfectly good enough for several maths activities including finding if pentagons tessellate.
