Place 6 matches on the 3 by 3 Grid like this. They divide the square into 3 parts in the ratio 2:3:3

Now use this grid. Set out 6 matches in the Starting Position.

Move just one match to a new position on the grid and make 3 areas so the ratio is

1 : 2 : 6. No matches are to be left out of a boundary.

Now return to the Starting Position. Move one match so the areas are

in the ratio 1 : 4 : 4

Now move 2 matches and divide the square in the ratio 1 : 1 : 7
