Look at this grid made with 12 matches.

 

If you count the match “heads” in each

column you will see that there are 3  in

the first, 5 in the second and 4 in the third.

 

 

 

 

Now look at the rows. There are 2 heads

in the bottom row, 7 in the middle row

The first challenge is to build a grid just like this one but with an

equal number of heads in every row and every column.

Now look at the diagonals in your solution.

Can you arrange the matches so that you keep the same number of

heads in each row and column but also have 5 in each of the two diagonals?

Now try and arrange the matches so that the number of heads

in each row and column remains the same but the number in

each diagonal is 8?
