Snake
Rules
(1) Each player has a “snake” 3 matches long.
The matches are arranged head
to tail.
(2) Each player moves their
snake in turn by
taking the tail match and adding it to the head.
The snake may only travel
along the lines of the grid.
(3) Each snake can strike at
the other if its head
lands on the end of the other snake’s tail which is then
removed.
(4) There are two safe dots
for each snake. Each player chooses a colour.
Only the red player is allowed to play his
snake on the red dots and only
the blue player is allowed on the blue dot.
(5) Twice and only twice
during the game each player is allowed
to “lie in wait”. To do this instead of moving you say
“I wait”.
The other player then MUST
move and not use one of his waiting moves.
(6) The game starts with the
snakes entering the board in the middle of opposite sides.
(7) The winning snake is the
first to eat up two matches leaving the other snake with just one.
(8) If at any time the snakes
meet so that neither is able to move then both are completely reversed.

If however only one is
trapped then it has to reverse and move allowing the other snake to strike.
Here is a game in progress
The snakes have reached
this position.

Blue moves and Red calls “I
wait”

Blue moves again

Red strikes ….and eats blue’s tail.

Blue now calls “I wait” . Red moves.
Now Blue strikes
.
…..and eats Red’s tail.

Both move

Red moves……. blue moves and …………

……..Red strikes to win!
