Here are some patterns made from coloured paper
circles and then placed on a window so that the light shines through. Wherever
the paper is folded or overlaps a different shade will appear.
For the best results place them on a window and
cover them with clear plastic film. Book covering film (non adhesive) is
ideal. A gentle rub with a soft toy or
a cloth will build up a charge of static electricity which will hold the sheet
and the pattern in place on the window
without the need for any glue to be used. During the day they will look great
from inside and during the night from outside when the lights are on indoors.
For use in a primary classroom;
Let every child make one of the patterns and then combine all of them
to make a class display on the window.
Use the thinnest coloured paper you can find. Tissue paper is a little
too thin and not so easy to fold. However you can sometimes buy circles already
cut from tissue paper.
